PNC is shuttering another 30 branches across its footprint, according to a new round of regulatory filings.

It takes disclosed locations PNC is cutting so far this year to 126. That easily beats 105 during the first half of 2022.

Pittsburgh-based PNC Financial Services Group Inc. is the nation’s sixth-largest bank by assets. And, like most banks, it has been revising branch locations due to evolving customer preferences and overlap from acquisitions for more than a decade.

PNC did not say when the latest batch are expected to close but it would almost certainly occur before midyear. At present, PNC has around 2,600 branches nationwide.

The 30 closures impact nine states. New Jersey has 11 on the chopping block, and 10 of those are in-store branches. Two of the Pennsylvania sites are located within supermarkets.

The other affected states are Florida, Missouri, Illinois, Texas, Ohio, Alabama and Michigan.

PNC, which confirmed the filings, provided the following statement:

“PNC recognizes that branches continue to play an important role for many customers when it comes to conducting certain transactions and holding important in-person financial conversations with our banking experts, which is why we routinely evaluate our branch network, together with our other available methods of banking, to determine if we are most effectively meeting our customers’ needs. After a careful review of our business model, PNC’s strategic goals and the potential impact to our customers, the decision was made to close the locations listed. We remain committed to delivering on our purpose to move all forward financially, and we are confident that we can meet or exceed our customers’ needs at nearby branch locations, alongside other available methods of banking."

PNC told the Business Times last July that it would close 135 in-store branches in waves during 2023, chiefly in New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. This started in January. The majority, or 127, are inside Giant Foods and Stop & Shop stores. Another eight will close within ShopRite grocery stores in certain areas of Pennsylvania. None of these are in the Pittsburgh region. Since filings list a mix of in-store and regular branches, PNC has a way to go toward its goal.

Here are the 30 locations PNC is closing next, according to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The OCC said the applications were filed by PNC on Feb. 17. Astericks indicate in-store branches.

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK, FEB. 21

NOTE: This is the last Offensive Players of the Week list for the 2022-23 season. This period covers games played between Feb. 9 and Feb. 20.

BIG NORTH CONFERENCE

Charlie Wogisch, Lakeland

Wogisch played a pivotal role in leading Lakeland to a Big North Silver Cup. He had three goals and an assist in a wild 6-5 win over Clifton-Passaic Valley-Cedar Grove. He followed that with a three-point performance in the preliminary round of the state playoffs against Jackson Liberty-Point Boro.

Will Brown, Northern Highlands

The Highlanders secured a Big North Gold Cup title thanks in part to Brown. He scored twice and added two assists in the team’s 4-3 win against Ramapo. That gave him six points in three tournament games. His second goal of the final might’ve been his biggest, as it tied the game with just over three minutes remaining in regulation.

COLONIAL VALLEY CONFERENCE

Ethan Garlock, Princeton

Garlock was the hero to lift Princeton to a 3-2 win in overtime against Hopewell Valley-Montgomery in the Mercer County Final. He had two points in the win, giving him six in the tournament overall.

Matthew Greenspoon, Hopewell Valley-Montgomery

HVM made a thrilling run to the Mercer County final and Greenspoon played a big role in that. He collected two assists in a 3-1 win over top-seeded Robbinsville-Allentown before adding one more in the final against Princeton. He has two goals and seven assists in his last four games.

GORDON CONFERENCE

Trip Pendy, Delbarton

Pendy forms a key piece of Delbarton’s top line and they rolled through the Gordon Cup playoffs. He had two goals and an assist in the 4-2 win against Christian Brothers in the final to win Delbarton’s first Gordon Cup since 2018. Pendy had 11 points overall in three tournament games.

Duncan Stewart, Delbarton

Stewart is another member of that top line and had two points in the Gordon Cup final. That gave him 10 points in the tournament overall, five of which came in a 5-1 win over Pope John in the quarterfinals.

GREATER MIDDLESEX CONFERENCE

Aiden Grinshpun, Monroe

The Falcons made a spirited run to the Kolodney Cup final before bowing out to Woodbridge-Colonia-Iselin Kennedy. Grinshpun picked up a hat trick in the semifinals, scoring every one of Monroe’s goals against St. Joseph (Met.), including the game-winner with a few minutes left. He also scored in the loss in the final and added another goal in the state tournament opener against Bridgewater-Raritan.

Ryan Lukko, Woodbridge-Colonia-Iselin Kennedy

Lukko was at it once again in the Kolodney Cup final and was too much for Monroe to handle. He recorded three goals and three assists in the 7-2 victory. That came after scoring the game-winner in overtime against Old Bridge in the semifinals. He has eight performances with at least five points.

MCSSIHL

Matthew Trifari, Montville

Coach Anthony Iannone called the Charette Cup the ‘Trif Show’ for a reason. Matthew Trifari went off for five goals in the 8-3 win over Newton-Lenape Valley. That came just four nights after a four-point game against Morris Catholic-St. Elizabeth in the semifinals.

Michael Ferry, West Morris

Ferry saved his biggest goal of the year for when his team needed it most. In a tight Haas Cup final against Park Regional, Ferry hit the back of the net to win the game in overtime. It was his sixth goal of the season but none have been bigger.

NJIIHL

Jake Lowry, Summit

Summit is a team no one really wants to play right now and they proved that in the McInnis Cup playoffs. Jake Lowry helped his team win it with a four-point performance against Westfield. That gave him seven points in the last two games of the tournament.

Jack Olsen, West Orange

A pair of three-point performances helped lead West Orange to the McMullen Cup title. In both games he scored twice and added an assist to give him 49 points on the season.

NJIIHL - GIRLS HOCKEY

Kailin Kane, Morristown-Beard

Kane helped Morristown-Beard make history in the Librera Cup final. Her goal late in the third broke a 2-2 tie and lifted her team to the inaugural cup title. She then added an assist and a goal across the next two WIHLMA games.

Gabriella Capano, Immaculate Heart

Capano stole the spotlight in the first-ever Cohen Cup final and Immaculate Heart was the big winner because of it. Capano scored twice in the win, giving her four points in the past two games overall.

SHORE CONFERENCE

Alex Haar, Ocean Township-Shore-Monmouth

Haar earns a spot here for a few reasons. He has 10 goals and 10 assists in the last four games. Those 20 points have pushed him past 200 total for his career. The 10 goals have also helped him eclipse 50 this season alone. He has 84 points this season.

Nick Kasich, St. John Vianney

The sophomore had a big week to help lead the Lancers to a Handchen Cup title. He had two goals and two assists in a 6-1 win over Brick before adding two more points in the final victory over Middletown North.

SKYLAND CONFERENCE

Tyler Kusznier, Pingry

Kusznier is heating up and Pingry has won a title because of it. He had his third hat trick of the season to help the Big Blue roll to a 5-2 win against Hunterdon Central in the Skyland Cup final. This comes a few days after a three-point performance against Watchung Hills.

Griffin Meyer, Hunterdon Central

Meyer has also had a hot stretch run and has four consecutive multi-point performances for the Red Devils. He had 10 points in tournament play, including two assists in the final loss to Pingry.
